I joined Noonday as an Independent Ambassador because their mission of building a flourishing world where children are cherished, women are empowered, people have jobs and we are connected, really resonated with me. Before embarking on my motherhood adventure, I practiced law as an active duty Judge Advocate in the Army. While I loved my job serving my country (and meeting my man!), my desire to serve the homeless population still bubbled below the surface. While I’m not able to embark on this adventure (YET), I can serve others through Noonday. And also: I can look rad doing it! So I chose Noonday as a means to serve the other mamas around the world who are working so hard and with so much dignity to support their families, and encouraging others in their communities to do the same.
Here are some of my favorite Noonday pieces...
The Nairobi Necklace (http://www.noondaycollection.com/Pws/MeganStephens/eventstore22500/AMUS/product/Nairobi-Necklace,2614,395.aspx): This hand cut brass and the turkana bead statement piece has quickly become my very favorite piece. When I first saw it, at our conference in January, I thought it was too tribal for me and that I couldn’t pull it off. I was wrong. It looks amazing on a plain white T or on a bold stripe, and even better with a black strappy dress! I heart this piece and will never give it up!
The Tushabe Necklace (http://www.noondaycollection.com/Pws/MeganStephens/eventstore22500/AMUS/product/Tushabe-Necklace-Lilac,2359,395.aspx): This paper bead beauty was very intimidating to me at first, but then my coach and mentor Colleen told me that just putting it on is pulling it off. So I did – and I pretty much haven’t stopped wearing it. It is so incredible what the talented hands of our artisans can create OUT OF PAPER. The colors of this necklace pair well with dark or light – I personally love it on a navy stripe!
The Solitaire Studs (http://www.noondaycollection.com/PWS/MeganStephens/eventstore22500/AMUS/product/Solitaire-Studs,2564,397.aspx): I don’t think these earrings get enough attention. I wear them so often with a ton of different pieces: the Nairobi Necklace, Cityscape Necklace, Latifa Necklace, Tropics Necklace, or Sunny Day Necklace. They are made with tagua seed and have this really bright red hue that makes my heart sing. And the diamond shape – I love how they can hang down a little bit or you can twist them for a more compact look.
Bonus Favorite: Acai Rope Necklace (http://www.noondaycollection.com/Pws/MeganStephens/eventstore22500/AMUS/product/Acai-Rope-Necklace-Fuchsia,2260,395.aspx): I honestly wear this so much! The saturated fuchsia color is exactly the pop you need for every outfit! It can be worn doubled, tripled and even quadrupled because it is so very long! I love pairing it with the leather extender from the Golden Rivers Necklace (http://www.noondaycollection.com/Pws/MeganStephens/eventstore22500/AMUS/product/Golden-Rivers-Necklace,2461,395.aspx). (Ha, I snuck one more in there!) And my favorite style tip to slip in here is that it DOESN’T HAVE TO MATCH! It doesn’t matter if you don’t own any fuchsia – it will look glorious with turquoise, navy, white, grey, black, yellow – you name it!
It is really unfair to only share three (or four) pieces!! Honestly, I love so many of our pieces; sometimes for the color or material used and sometimes simply because the story behind the piece is so meaningful and the connection is so tangible. This is exactly how I feel about our Ethiopian pieces that are created out of recycled artillery collected off the hillsides. The farmers collect the used artillery shells that are then melted down and mixed with other metals to create beads. Our partners in Addis Ababa, most of who have been rescued out of prostitution, then create unique and one of a kind hand strung pieces that are gorgeous and embody the phrase “beauty from ashes.” This redemption story motivates me in my business – they are working hard to sustain their families while I am doing the same and it comes full circle.
